During last dry season the quantity of water drawn from the Pokfulam Reservoir was 474,215 gals. per day. From the 12th to 26th April the supply was increased to 980,464 gals. per day, and from 26th April to 28th May to 1,249,800 gals. per day. During the present month, owing to the dryness of the season, the supply has been reduced to about 1,000,000 gals. per day.
The demand for the town is in excess of the supply. The dry season gives an approximate 90,000 gals. short for the town daily.
It has been argued that the former report and the drums permitted to his committee to explain that 2nd (Amaranth?) on which had appeared the item in the above reported, I am not aware that approval was founded.
It appears that the Chinamen do not get this amount for drinking purposes. One bath tub takes more than 1,000 gals. There is nothing like it. Small subsidiary streams to seek it out, and water boats when the large merchants can purchase a supply. There is no reason to suppose that the Chinese merchants do not pay water rate like their other householders.
Better refer their superior parties with whether it is possible to frame that it plumbs carried permit an adequate supply of water such as them to Mr. Janinson's update during the dates in 1873.
